Welcome to the Completion Engineering Association website!
The Completion Engineering Association (CEA) exists such that the impact of completions is better understood in the D/C reservoir community, as well as having a venue to move innovative technology along more rapidly to get it to the market place quicker, thus building value for the Member companies.
The purposes and objectives of the Association are therefore to advance the state-of-the-art of well completion technology by providing a forum for:
- Presentations, discussions and debates on the current and future state-of-the-art in well completion technology.
- The presentation of proposals for completion-related projects sponsored by Members of the Association for participation by Members and non-Members alike.
- Exploring the levels of interest of Members in potential completion related problems to aid in developing future industry sponsored projects.
- Advising academic organizations and other industry groups of the needs and interests of Members.

The Association is not organized for profit or organized to engage in an activity ordinarily carried on for profit.

The CEA has extended its value added services to the industry by putting on technical symposiums which address state-of-the-art in completions technology and facilitate the uptake of new completions technology.
The CEA is currently undertaking a survey to plan its 2010 activities. Please visit the website after the 15th Feb for more details.
The CEA organized a symposium on Open Hole Sand Control, 4th / 5th November 2009, in Houston. The symposium chairmen were Luis Bianco (Chevron) & Tony Bernardi (Shell); for more information and for access to the proceedings, please see symposium.
There have been three symposiums in 2007 and in 2008:
The first CEA symposium was: Perforating Technology: The Inside Story: Latest Case Histories and New Technologies in Spring 2007 with Phil Snider (Marathon) and David Atwood (Schlumberger) acting as chairmen.
The second CEA Symposium was on 'Tight Gas and Unconventional Resource Fracturing', with Carl Montgomery (ConocoPhillips) and Richard Keck (BP) acting as Chairman.
The third CEA Symposium was on 'Frac Pack Completions: From Current Lessons Learned / Best Practices to On-going Technical and Operational Challenges & Opportunities'. The chairmen are: Rick Dickerson (Chevron) & Dave Tiffin (BP) and it took place in June 2008.
The fourth CEA symposium was on Open Hole Sand Control Completions and took place on 4th & 5th November 2009 in Houston.
All three were great successes: For more information on these symposiums, please see: symposium.
